#1328 Burundi 21/06/09

This very nice cover from Burundi was sent by Roland, thank you! It was posted on June 9 and arrived on June 24, 2021.

The left stamp depicts the mushroom Russula ingen, the middle stamp depicts the flower of the passion fruit (maracuja, Passiflora edulis), and the right stamp depicts the ruff (Calidris pugnax).

On March 31 I received this very nice cover from Gabon, thank you very much! It was posted on Libreville on March 4, 2021.

The bird stamps depict the grey parrot (Psittacus erithacus) and the blue-breasted kingfisher (Halcyon malimbica).

#1314 Ethiopia 19/01/16

My mother has sent this postcard from Ethiopia, thank you! It was posted on January 16, 2019.

The left stamp depicts the Entoto Palace of emperor Menelik II. The next stamp depicts the Ethiopian house snake (Lamprophis erlangeri), the next two stamps depict the Menelik’s bushbuck (Tragelaphus scriptus meneliki).

The bottom left stamp commemorates the shiny-leaf buckthorn (Rhamnus prinoides), and the next stamp Zoz Amba St. Georges monastery in Gonder.

The left stamp is part of the “Fish” set, which was issued on October 9, 2000. It depicts the tomato hind (Cephalopholis sonnerati). The right stamps is part of the set “Mauritius in World Heritage” and depicts the Le Morne peninsula. The stamp set was issued on April 18, 2011.

#1293 South Sudan 20/09/30

This registered cover from South Sudan is not addressed to me, because there is no international postal service in South Sudan at the moment. It was sent from Juba to Juba and then brought to Austria.

The stamp set was issued on July 21, 2020. It commemorates the international campaign against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Déo has sent this nice cover from Kenya, thank you! It was posted in Nairobi on February 20 and arrived on March 6, 2018.

The left stamp depicts Mount Kenya and commemorates the 50th anniversary of independence in 1964. The other stamp commemorates Barack Obama‘s visit to Kenya, his father’s country of birth.

The left stamps are part of the mini-sheet “Beaches and Slopes”, which was issued on March 16, 2015. The right stamp is part of the mini-sheet, which commemorates the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. It was issued on March 10, 2008.

#1236 Botswana 19/08/20

My first cover from Botswana was sent by Ulf, thank you very much! It is a FDC, which was cancelled again in Poso House on August 20. The cover was delivered by GLS and arrived on September 10, 2019.

The cover and stamps commemorate the Nxai Pan. They depict a baobab tree, a cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus), a springbok (Antidorcas marsupialis), a gemsbok (Oryx gazella), a lanner falcon (Falco biarmicus), and two bat-eared foxes (Otocyon megalotis).

The top left stamps depict the Fort Du Phare in Algier. The stamp below depicts a bird of the Serinus species. The middle stamps depicts the common dentex (Dentex dentex), and the right stamp depicts a part of the Mosaique Des Muses, which is hosted in the Archaeological Museum of Cherchell.

The stamps commemorate the Red Sea dascyllus (Dascyllus marginatus), the Orange-lined triggerfish (Balistapus undulatus), and the Picasso triggerfish (Rhinecanthus assasi).

The left stamp commemorates the 100th anniversary of Djibouti’s Chamber of Commerce. It was issued on November 7, 2008. The middle stamp depicts a blacksmith. The stamp was issued on May 14, 2000. The right stamp was issued on August 8, 2005. It commemorates the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Inside the letter a card has been included, which depicts the Dogon village Yougadougourou.

The left stamp is part of the “birds” set, which was issued on November 25, 2008. It depicts the western osprey (Pandion haliaetus).

The right stamp commemorates the 30th anniversary of Inforpress, the Capeverdean News Agency.

The left stamp is part of the set “Birds of the Banc d’Arguin National Park“, which was issued on October 24, 2011. It depicts the dimorphic egret (Egretta dimorpha).

The right stamp commemorates the 50th anniversary of Chinese medical aid in Mauritania.
