My mother has sent my this very nice postcard from her trip to Peru. It was posted in Machu Picchu on October 28, 2016.

Ths stamps depict the endangered birds white-bellied cinclodes (Cinclodes palliatus) and marvellous spatuletail (Loddigesia mirabilis).

Wolfgang has sent another cover from the British Antarctic Territory, thank you very much!

It was posted on Horseshoe Island on February 3 and arrived on March 23, 2017.

The stamp is part of the “Penguins” stamp set, which was issued on November 19, 2014. It depicts the Gentoo penguin (Pygoscelis papua).

It was posted sometimes in 2015 and arrived on November 25, 2016. The postmark shows no date only the name of the Fakaofo atoll.

The left stamp is part of the mini-sheet “Tokelau Language Week”, which was issued on October 15, 2014. The next stamp is part of the mini-sheet “Tokelau Vaka” (issued on June 18, 2014). The third stamp is part of the mini-sheet “Weaving”, which was issued on April 23, 2014.

The stamps on the right are part of the set “Scenic Definitives”, which was issued on April 11, 2012.

The stamp is part of the “Tourism” stamp set, which was issued on September 24. It commemorates the Moselle Valley.

#1016 Argentine Antarctica 15/11/09

Argentina 151109This stunning cover from the Argentine Antarctica was arranged by Wolfgang and sent by Roberto, thank you very much!

The cover was delivered via Marambio Base with a DHC-6 Twin Otter airplane.

The top stamp is part of the mini-sheet, which commemorates the 50th anniversary of Operación 90, which was the first Argentine ground expedition to the South Pole in 1965. The mini-sheet was issued on March 9, 2015.

The left stamp is part of the “Fungi” stamp set (issued on November 27, 1998) and depicts the chestnut bolete (Gyroporus castaneus).

The middle stamp depicts the board game Bao. The right stamp commemorates Pemba Island.

The left stamp is part of the mini-sheet “Musical Instruments of Guanacaste. The set was issued on July 25, 2007.

The middle stamp was issued on January 30, 2015. It is part of a mini-sheet, which commemorate the 50th anniversary of legal medicine in Costa Rica. The stamp depicts Dr. Alfonso Acosta Guzmán.

The top right stamp depicts Costa Rica’s highest mountain, the Cerro Chirripó (3820 m). The stamp is part of the set “National Parks”, which was issued on August 24, 2009.

The bottom right stamp is part of the “Volcanoes” set (issued on June 24, 2004) and depicts the Arenal Volcano (1670 m).

The left stamps are part of the set “Map of Barbuda”, which was issued on November 19, 1968.

The middle stamp depicts the French anglefish (Pomacanthus arcuatus). It is part of the “Fish” set, which was issued on February 5, 1969. The next stamp depicts the post office and treasury of Barbuda. It is part of the set “Local Motifs” (issued on October 15, 1974).

The right stamp is part of the mini-sheet, which commemorates the Royal visit to Antigua and Barbuda. It was issued on October 27, 1977.

 

#984 French Southern and Antarctic Lands – Kerguelen Islands 15/07/27

TAAF 150727Jean Pierre has sent another beautiful cover from the Kerguelen Islands, thank you very much! It was cancelled at Port-Aux-Français on July 27 and arrived on October 14, 2015.

The left stamp was issued on January 2, 2015. It is part of the “Marine Life” series and commemorates the Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba). The middle stamp (issued on January 2, 2013) commemorates the pilot Charles Petitjean (1914–1988). The right stamp commemorates Bertrand Imbert (1924–2011), who was the leader of the French Antarctic expedition 1956/57. The stamp was issued on January 2, 2014.

The stamp on the front was issued on October 9, 2014. It commemorates the 50th anniversary of the first ascent of the Cho Oyu mountain in 1954.

Nepal 1508xx backOn the back of the cover there is a mini-sheet attached, which commemorates the birthplace (Lumbini) and other places in the life of Buddha. The mini-sheet was issued on December 9, 2014.

Liechtenstein 150903Here is another very nice cover from Liechtenstein, which was sent by Vural, thank you! It was posted in Vaduz on September 3 and arrived on September 7, 2015.

The left stamp depicts a painting of Eschen. It is part of the “Villages” set, which was issued on March 4, 1996.

The right stamp is part of the “Flowers” set, which was issued on June 1, 2015. It depicts an oxeye daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare).

 

#969 French Southern and Antarctic Lands – Kerguelen Islands 10/04/02

TAAF 100402Here is another beautiful cover from the Kerguelen Islands, which was sent by Jean Pierre in 2010, thank you very much! It was cancelled at Port-aux-Français on April 2 and arrived on October 8, 2010.

The two stamps on the left are part of the “Petrels” mini-sheet, which was issued on January 1, 2009. The stamps depict the grey petrel (Procellaria cinerea) and the common diving petrel (Pelecanoides urinatrix).

The three middle stamps are part of the “Flags” set, which was issued on January 1, 2008. The stamp below was issued on January 1, 2009. It is part of the “Minerals” series and depicts a pyrite.

Finally, the right stamp (issued on January 1, 2009 too) commemorates the 175th anniversary of the death of Henri Paschal de Rochegude (1741–1834), who was a French admiral. In 1773 he lead an exploring expedition to Australia.
