Moses sent me this registered cover from Ibadan, Nigeria. It was posted on June 21 and arrived on June 29, 2010.
The attached stamps were issued on July 29, 2005. They commemorate the centenary of Rotary International.
On the back an additional postmark dated June 23 and with the inscription “??PC AIR IK.” was applied.
My first cover from Nigeria was sent to me by Edwin, thank you! It was posted in Calabar on October 9, 2009.
The left stamp was issued in 2008 and has the inscriptions “Overloading Is Dangerous/Stop It!” and “Safer Roads, Fuller Lives”. It commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Federal Road Safety Commision.
The top middle stamp depicts the Nigerian coat of arms. The top right stamp commemorates the “24th UPU Congress Nairobi 2008” (inscription), which is interesting, because the 24th congress was held in Geneva! The stamp depicts the ceremonial customes of a Tiv couple in north-central Nigeria.
Finally, the last stamp commemorates the bicentennial anniversary of Mungo Park (1771-1806), a Scottish explorer of Africa.
