On December 16 I received this marvelous cover from the Amundsen–Scott South Pole Station, a big thank you to the station’s philatelic clerk Mr. Smith!
The left stamp is part of the set “Antarctic Explorers”, which was issued on September 14, 1988. It commemorates the explorer Richard E. Byrd (1888 – 1957). The right stamp is an imperforated copy of the “Global Forever” stamp, which was issued on January 28, 2013.
On the left there are stamps of the Antarctica Local Post and the International Local Post.
On the back there is an additional cancel of the National Science Foundation.
