#592 French Southern and Antarctic Lands – Adélie Land 11/01/01
Thank you, Jean Pierre, for sending this amazing FDC from the French Southern and Antarctic Lands (TAAF). The cover was cancelled in Dumont d’Urville Station (Adélie Land) on January 1, 2011 and arrived on January 27, 2012!
The left stamp set was issued on January 1, 2011. It commemorates the mineral Zircon. The stamp on the right was issued on January 1 too. It depicts the Concordia Station and the star constellation Southern Cross (Crux).
The cover was posted in the course of the 61th French Antarctic Expedition 2011, which was confirmed by the cancellation on the left border.
In combination with the red forwarding sticker of Austrian post this is truly an unique cover!

This beautiful and exotic cover from the French Southern and Antarctic Lands (TAAF) was sent to me by Jean Pierre, thank you very much!
It was posted at Dumont d’Urville Station on February 7, 2010. The attached stamp sheet is one half of the sheet “Évolution des Moyens de Transports en Région Polaire” (Evolution of Means of Transport in Polar Region), which was issued on January 1, 2010. The cover commemorates the 60th French Antarctic Expedition 2010. The cover also shows the name of the 2010 Gérant Postal (postal administrator) of Adélie Land: Dominique Génin.
