Malta 121123This nice cover from Malta was sent by Albert, thank you! It was posted in Valletta on November 23 and arrived on November 27, 2012.

The top left stamp is part of the “Scenery” set, which was issued on September 16, 2009.

The right stamp (with coupon) is part of a set, which commemorates the 70th anniversary of the Operation Pedestal in 1942. It depicts the ship HMS Wrestler. The set was issued on August 10, 2012.

The bottom left stamp was issued on December 28, 2009. It depicts an artefact of the Phoenician and Punic period.

Malta 121107Thank you, Jean Pierre, for sending this nice cover from Malta! It was posted in St. Julian’s on November 7 and arrived on December 11, 2012.

The stamps are part of the Christmas set, which was issued on October 31, 2012. The stamps depict the paintings “The Adoration of the Magi” by a German follower of Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) and “The Holy Family”, by the group of Denis Calvaert (1540 – 1619).

The left stamp is part of a set issued on December 29, 2007. It commemorates the Maltese ethnographer Manwel Magri (1851-1907). The three football stamps were issued on the same date. They commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Youth Football Association. The middle top stamp is part of the set, which commemorates the XIIIth Games of the Small States of Europe (hosted in Cyprus). It was issued on the opening day of the games: June 1, 2009.

The bottom left pair is part of the mushrooms set (issued on March 27, 2009). They depict the mushroom Laetiporus sulphureus. The bottom right stamp is part of the motorcycles set, which was issued on September 12, 2007. It depicts a Royal Enfield of 1954.

The mini-sheet commemorates the 2000th birthday of the apostle St. Paul.
