Terence has sent this very nice cover from Singapore, thank you! It was posted on August 23 and arrived on September 1, 2017.

The two stamps on top are part of the “Kingfisher” stamp set, which was issued on April 26, 2017. The stamps depict the black-capped kingfisher (Halcyon pileata) and the blue-eared kingfisher (Alcedo meninting).

The bottom stamp was issued on August 8, 2017. It is part of the joint issue stamp series of the ASEAN postal operators and commemorates the 50th anniversary of the ASEAN foundation. The stamp depicts the national flower of Singapore, the orchid Vanda ‘Miss Joaquim’.

The stamp set on the right was issued on November 19, 2015. It commemorates the orchids Epipactis palustris, Cephalanthera rubra, and Ophrys taurica.

The cover is a FDC of 2013, the stamps and cover depict some orchids. The stamp on the left was issued on January 17, 2013. It commemorates the 50th anniversary of relations between Cuba and Finland.

Comoros 150415The post officers in Mutsamudu helped me to receive my first cover from the Union of the Comoros, thank you! The cover was posted on April 15 and arrived on April 27, 2015.

The attached stamp set was issued on October 9, 2003. The stamps depict a branch with leaves of the ylang-ylang tree (Cananga odorata) and a branch with flowers of the Flat-leaved Vanilla (Vanilla planifolia).

The two different stamps (with three different ornamental fields) commemorate the orchids Dendrobium conanthum and D. lasianthera.

The stamps are part of the “Flora & Fauna” set, which was issued on August 30, 2013. They depict the orchid Oeoniella polystachis and the Mascarene martin (Phedina borbonica).

The left stamps are part of the set “Antiquity of Laos”, which was issued on January 3, 2009. The middle stamp is part of the “Orchids” stamp set (issued May 22, 2011) and depicts a flower of the Paphiopedilum barbigerum species.

The right stamp is part of the mini-sheet, which commemorates the 20th anniversary of the first Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge over the Mekong. The sheet was issued on April 8, 2014.

#885 Costa Rica 14/12/30

Costa Rica 1501xxThis cover from Costa Rica was sent by Enrique, thank you! It was posted in San José on December 30, 2014 and arrived on January 12, 2015. Unfortunately there is no postmark on the cover (Enrique told me, when he had sent).

The stamp set on the top was issued on October 5, 2001. They depict the orchids Cattleya dowiana “Guaria turrialba” and Trichopilia sp. and commemorate the Costa Rican-Spain Stamp Exhibition in San José.

The bottom left stamp is part of a set (issued on December 1, 2014), which commemorates traditional dishes.

The last stamp is part of the mini-sheet “Costa Rican Comic Strips”, which was issued on June 15, 2011.

The attached stamps are part of the set “The 100th Anniversary of Panama Republic”, which was issued in 2003. They commemorate the plants panama tree (Sterculia apetala) and the orchid Peristeria elata.

Arcadi sent me this nice postcard from Grenada, thank you! It was posted in St. George’s on July 1 and arrived on July 7, 2011.

The left stamp commemorates the Yellow-breasted Warbler (Seicercus montis). It is part of the definitives set issued by Grenada in 2000.

The second and fourth stamp are part of the orchids set of 1999, which was issued by Grenada Grenadines. They depict the flowers Broughtonia sanguinea (Blood Red Broughtonia) and Oncidium papilio.

The third stamp is part of a set that was issued by Grenada in 2006. It commemorates the butterfly Mourning Cloak (Nymphalis antiopa).

The cover commemorates the World Press Freedom Day. The stamps depict the orchids Dendrobium aphyllum, D. chrysotoxum, and D. draconis. The set was issued on April 1, 2013.

This nice FDC was sent to me by Ronaldo, thank you! It was posted in Belém on March 31 and arrived in Graz on April 19, 2010.

The FDC and stamp set is entitled “Série Relações Diplomáticas – Brasil e Tailândia – Bromélias, Orquídea e Arquitetura” (Diplomatic Relations Series – Brazil and Thailand – Bromelias, Orchids and Architecture). It was issued on April 17, 2009.

#279 Nicaragua 10/02/15

My first cover from Nicaragua arrived on February 26, 2010. It was posted 11 days before in San Marcos.

The attached 2009 stamps commemorate the 50th anniversary of the “Instituto Nicaragüense de Seguridad Social” (Nicaraguan Institute of Social Security). The right stamp depicts an orchid of the genus Phalaenopsis, the stamp is part of the orchids mini-sheet, which was issued on December 15, 1995.
