#1218 Niuafo’ou 19/05/01

This beautiful cover from Niuafo’ou was sent by Radim, thank you very much! It was posted on May 1 and arrived on May 16, 2019.

The top left stamp depicts the Pipi Tui flower (Hernandia moerenhoutiana), the bottom left stamp depicts the Cananga tree and flowers (Cananga odorata). The next stamp commemorates the coconut palm (Cocos nucifera).

The next stamp depicts flowers of Coleus amboinicus. Finally, the right stamp commemorates the butterfly “dark cerulean” (Jamides bochus).

Tonga 150810-5This very nice cover from Tonga was sent by Steven, thank you! It was posted in Nuku’alofa on August 10 and arrived on August 24, 2015.

The top left and bottom right stamp are part of the “Butterflies and Flowers” set, which was issued on September 6, 2013. The stamps commemorate the Great Eggfly (Hypolimnas bolina) sitting on a Tahitian gardenia (Gardenia taitensis) and a meadow argus (Junonia villida) sitting on an elder (Sambucus nigra).

The top right stamp is part of the set “Royal Baby – Prince George of Cambridge“, which was issued on August 30, 2013.

The bottom left stamp are part of the “Fungi” set, which was issued on September 8, 1997. They depict the anemone stinkhorn (Aseroe rubra) and the fungi Marasmiellus semiustus.

My first cover from Tonga was sent to me by Jean Pierre, thank you!

It was posted on January 18, 2009, in Nuku’alofa. The left two stamps were issued on November 10, 2003; they depict the Wesleyan Church in Uiha, Ha’apai, and the Free Wesleyan Church in Nuku’alofa. The right stamp (issued September 21, 2004) is part of the “Fruit Trees” set and depicts a coconut palm (Cocos nucifera).
