#1100 Guam 17/04/22

This beautiful cover from Guam was sent by Wolfgang, thank you very much! It was posted in Dededo on April 22 and arrived on May 9, 2017.

The left stamp was issued on January 30, 1987. The middle stamp commemorates the Kwanzaa festival; it was issued on October 9, 2009. The right stamps depict a ballet dancer; they were issued on September 16, 1998.

Rwanda 140827-2Here is another very nice cover from Rwanda, which was sent by Déo, thank you! It was posted in Kigali on August 27 and arrived on September 16, 2014.

The left stamp is part of a set, which commemorates the tenth anniversary of the Rwanda Scout Association. The set was issued on February 20, 1978.

The middle stamp commemorates the 200th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America. It is part of a set, which was issued on January 30, 1976.

The right stamp is part of the “Folklore” set, which was issued on November 15, 2010.

Northern Marianas 150312This very nice cover from the Northern Mariana Islands was sent by Radim, thank you very much! It was posted in Capitol Hill on Saipan on March 12 and arrived on April 10, 2015.

The two stamps on the left are part of the “State Flags” set, which was issued on February 23, 1976. They depict the flag of Colorado and a former flag of Georgia.

The middle and the right stamp are part of the flags sets, which were issued on February 22, 2012 and August 6, 2009 resp.

This cover was posted in Saint Thomas on December 30, 2014, and arrived on January 7, 2015. It was cancelled again on December 30 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The attached stamp set is entitled “Farmer’s Markets” and was issued on August 7, 2014.

US South Pole 141123On December 16 I received this marvelous cover from the Amundsen–Scott South Pole Station, a big thank you to the station’s philatelic clerk Mr. Smith!

The left stamp is part of the set “Antarctic Explorers”, which was issued on September 14, 1988. It commemorates the explorer Richard E. Byrd (1888 – 1957). The right stamp is an imperforated copy of the “Global Forever” stamp, which was issued on January 28, 2013.

On the left there are stamps of the Antarctica Local Post and the International Local Post.

The left stamp is part of the set “Winter Flowers”, which was issued on February 14, 2014. The two stamps on the right commemorate the trains Congressional and 20th Century Limited. The stamps are part of the “Trains” stamp set (issued on August 26, 1999).

The left stamp is part of the Christmas stamp set, which wa issued on October 11, 2013. The middle stamp is part of the stamp booklet “Gingerbread Houses”, which was issued on November 6, 2013. The left stamp was issued on April 11, 2011, and commemorates president George Washington (1732-1799).

The two definitives were issued on March 16 and May 12, 2007. The three stamps of the United Nations are part of the “Flags” series. They were issued on September 18, 1987, and September 26, 1980, and depict the flags of Greece, Afghanistan, and Yugoslavia.

The right stamp is part of the set “Muscle Cars”, which was issued on February 22, 2013. It commemorates a 1970 Chevelle SS.

#596 USA – Principality of Lichtenberg 12/05/08

This truly interesting cover was sent by Maximilian, Sovereign Prince of Lichtenberg, thank you very much! It was posted in Gaylord, MI on May 8 and arrived on May 14, 2012. The cover was delivered by US postal service as can be seen on the machine label on the right.

There are two stamps of the Principality of Lichtenberg attached, which were cancelled with the “Lichtenberg Post” postmark. The stamps are part of the second issue 2012 and depict the archangel Michael. To find out more about the self-proclaimed nation of Lichtenberg see the website http://polichtenberg.com.

AW Welch sent me these nice FDCs from the USA. They were issued and posted on July 28 and arrived on September 7, 2011.

The FDC and stamps commemorate the US Merchant Marine and depict a container ship, a clipper ship, a liberty ship, and an auxiliary steam ship.

Willie sent me this beautiful registered cover from the USA, thank you! It was posted in Menomonie on August 10 and arrived on August 19, 2010.

There are several UN stamps attached, which have been normally cancelled by US post! Two stamps of the flags series, depicting the flags of Kampuchea and Honduras, and two stamps of the “Human Rights” set.

Two of the US stamps commemorate the Mackinac Bridge, which was issued on February 3, 2010. Three are part of the 2010 set “Animal Rescue”. The two top middle US stamps commemorate the Zion National Park, they were issued on June 28, 2009. The definitive in the middle commemorates the author Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811-1896).
