#1114 French Southern and Antarctic Lands – Île Amsterdam 10/04/09

TAAF 100409Here is anothe beautiful cover from the French Southern and Antarctic Lands, which was sent by Jean Pierre, thank you very much! The cover was cancelled with postmark of Martin-de-Viviès  on April 4 and arrived on September 24, 2010.

The left stamp was issued on January 1, 2010. It is part of the “minerals” series and depicts a tourmaline crystal. The three stamps on top are part of the “Elephant Seal” mini-sheet, which was issued on January 1, 2008. The stamp on the right depicts a pyrite crystal. It was issued on January 1, 2009.

On the back there is the mission cachet of the 61st mission.

#1102 Iceland 17/05/19

Here is another beautiful cover from Iceland, which was sent by Wolfgang, thank you! It was posted in Blönduós on May 19 and arrived on May 26, 2017.

The middle stamp is part of a set, which was issued on February 16, 2017. It commemorates contemporary Icelandic design.

falkland-170102Here is another beautiful cover from the Falkland Islands that was sent by Wolfgang, thank you very much!

It was posted in Stanley on January 2 and arrived on January 19, 2017. This registered cover was delivered by GLS, the GLS sticker is on the back. On the left there is the cachet of the ship MS Midnatsol.

The left stamp is part of the set “The 90th Anniversary of the Birth of Queen Elizabeth II”, which was issued on April 29, 2016. The stamp set on the right commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Elephant Seal Research Group (ESRG). It was issued on November 30, 2015.

Iceland 150408Steinunn has sent this very nice cover from Iceland, thank you! It was posted in Reykjavík on April 8 and arrived on April 13, 2015.

The left stamp is part of the “Seals” set, which was issued on January 28, 2010. It depicts the harbor seal (Phoca vitulina).

The right stamp is part of the 2014 EUROPA stamp set (issued March 27, 2014) and depicts a rather modern  instrument: the segulharpa.

#548 French Southern and Antarctic Lands – Île Amsterdam 11/04/20

Thank you, Jean Pierre, for sending this amazing cover from the Île Amsterdam! It was cancelled on Martin-de-Viviès on April 20 and arrived on September 16, 2011.

The left stamp was issued on January 1, 2009, and depicts the minerals pyrite.The second stamp commemorates the mineral tourmaline and was issued on January 1, 2010. The two stamps at the right are part of the set “Amsterdam Seals”, which was issued on June 2, 2010.

The cover also has a mission cancel of the 62nd mission to St. Paul and Amsterdam, which is signed by the ornithologist Benjamin Callard.
