Déo has sent this nice cover from Kenya, thank you! It was posted in Nairobi on February 20 and arrived on March 6, 2018.

The left stamp depicts Mount Kenya and commemorates the 50th anniversary of independence in 1964. The other stamp commemorates Barack Obama‘s visit to Kenya, his father’s country of birth.

William has sent this registered cover from El Salvador, thank you very much! It was posted on May 4 and arrived on May 24, 2018.

The four stamps on the front side are part of the set “200th Anniversary of the First Shout of Independence”, which commemorates the 1811 Independence Movement. The set was issued on May 25, 2011.

The left stamp on the back is the 2017 Christmas stamp (issued on November 13). The stamp on the right is part of a set, which commemorates the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Japan. That set was issued on February 13, 2015.

Malawi 160728My first cover from Malawi was sent by Martin, thank you very much! It was posted registered in Mangochi on July 28 and arrived on August 18, 2016. It was delivered by GLS inside a transparent cover with GLS sticker on it.

The left and right stamps are part of the set “50th Anniversary of Independence”, which was issued on July 6, 2014. They depict maize silos.

The middle stamps are part of the “Christmas” set, which was issued on December 20, 2010.

Cuba 150724Frank has sent this very nice cover from Cuba, thank you! It was posted in Colón on July 24 and arrived on August 24, 2015.

Frank used a FDC and added a stamp of the set “World Stamp Exhibition BRASILIANA 2013”, which depicts a rumba dancer. The set was issued on October 16, 2013.

The FDC stamp commemorates the 50th anniversary of independence of Malawi, Tanzania, and Zambia.

Rwanda 140827-2Here is another very nice cover from Rwanda, which was sent by Déo, thank you! It was posted in Kigali on August 27 and arrived on September 16, 2014.

The left stamp is part of a set, which commemorates the tenth anniversary of the Rwanda Scout Association. The set was issued on February 20, 1978.

The middle stamp commemorates the 200th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America. It is part of a set, which was issued on January 30, 1976.

The right stamp is part of the “Folklore” set, which was issued on November 15, 2010.

The two stamps on the left commemorate the 56th anniversary of Niger’s independence in 1958.

The right stamp is part of the “Giraffes” mini-sheet, which was issued on March 1, 2013.

The 2014 stamp depicts a Zambian beef and commemorates the 50th anniversary of independence.

There are eight identical stamps attached, which are part of the set “20th Anniversary of Independence”, which was issued on August 29, 2011.

The attached stamp commemorates the 50th anniversary of independence from the UK.

The attached stamp commemorates the Independence Day (17/02/08) and it was cancelled with the first day cancellation of this date—although the cover was posted on January 23, 2013 (as Radim told me)!

#625 Colombia 13/01/15

Colombia 130115My first cover from Colombia was sent by Alvaro, thank you! It was posted in Bogotá on January 15 and arrived on January 31, 2013.

The top left 2012 stamp commemorates the XIX National Games of Colombia. The 2009 stamp on top-right commemorates the Declaration of Independence, which was written on 20 July 1810. The bottom stamp is part of the 2012 set, which commemorates the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

#475 Panama 11/02/17

A. Garcia sent me my first cover from Panama, thanks a lot! It was posted in Betania on February 17 and arrived on March 3, 2011. The cover and special cancellation commemorate the International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27.

The stamp on the front and three on the back commemorate the centenary of the independence of Panama in 1903. They are part of a set, which was issued on November 26, 2003.

The middle stamp on the back was issued in 2007 and commemorates Panama’s national park Sarigua.

The bottom airmail stamp on the back was issued on November 24, 2003. It is entitled “Jewels of the Pollera“.

My first cover from Venezuela was sent to me by Eduardo, thank you! It was posted in Valencia on July 21 and arrived on August 17, 2010.

The left stamp commemorates the Venezuelan independence leader José Félix Ribas (1775-1815). The next stamp commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Fundacion Banco de Venezuela.

The two 2009 stamps at the top are part of the set “Bicentenary of the Independence” and depict Fernando de Peñalver and Juan Germán Roscio (1763-1821), the main editor of the Venezuelan Declaration of Independence.

#255 Latvia 09/11/14

Elmars sent me this FDC from Latvia. It was issued in Rīga on November 14, 2009, and commemorates the origin of the nation Latvia.

The left stamp depicts the proclamation of independence on November 18, 1918. The right stamp depicts the Tautas Padome (Latvia’s People’s Council), which was formed on November 17, 1918.

Interestingly the 100th anniversary of the proclamation is in 2018, which is noted on the stamps too!
