#620 French Southern and Antarctic Lands – Île de la Possession 11/07/14

taaf-110714A big THANK YOU to Eric for sending this marvelous cover from the Alfred Faure Station on the Île de la Possession, which is part of the Crozet Islands. The cover was cancelled on July 14 and arrived on September 16, 2011.

The attached mini-sheet was issued on January 1, 2011, and commemorates whales of the southern oceans.

According to the blue hexagonal postmark on the front, the cover was posted at the TAAF Philatelic Days on January 14 and 15, 2011 in Chambéry.

On the back of the cover there are three marks of the 46th mission to Crozet. The middle mark shows the name of the Chef de District Marianne-Frédérique Pussiau. It was also signed by Mme Pussiau. The blue mark on the right shows the name of the Chef de District Capitaine Patrick Haon.

    Hi Florian,
it’s me who sent you this cover (and not “Jean-Pierre” as written in your post”)…
anyway, happy to know that you like it ;)
Right, there was an Exhibition about Antarctic expeditions in this city of Chambery and I was there ! The TAAF postal administration was also present and I gave them this cover that traveled to Crozet before reaching you !
