Pakistan 08/11/16

pakistan-0811161Cover from Pakistan, posted in Karachi on November 16, 2008.

Malik send me this really beautiful cover, which has attached 8 different stamps. The bottom left stamp, which is part of the series “Men of Letters” issued on October 13 in 2001, shows Syed Imtiaz Ali Taj (1900-1970), a famous Pakistani author. The top left stamp commemorates the Sindh Festival 2001. The next stamp issued on April 9, 2001, announces the 9th SAF Games in Islamabad 2004. The middle stamp was issued on November 19, 2007; it commemorates the Centenary Celebration of the Catholic Cathedral Church in Lahore.

The next four rupees stamp issued on February 15, 2003 commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences. The very right stamp is part of the series “Medicinal Plants of Pakistan”: It shows the Chamomilla (Matricaria recutita). Finally, the two se-tenant stamps in the bottom right corner are part of a mini-sheet depicting mushrooms. They show the mushrooms Agaricus arvensis and Coprinus comatus.

Thank you very much for this beautiful cover!
