Germany 2008/01/22

Airmail cover from Germany, posted in Lauenbrück on January 22, 2008.

The cover is a postal stationery commemorating the 104th German Philatelist’s Day 2003 (104. Deutscher Philatelistentag), which was held in Kiel from May 23 to 25. The Philatelistentag is an annual international stamp trade fair and exhibition, which was held for the first time in Mainz on August 18, 1889.

The imprinted value of 55 cent commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Deutsche Welle, which is Germany’s international broadcaster.

The two additional definitive stamps are of the flower series and depict the crocus (face value 5 cent) and tulip (face value 10 cent).
