#509 Canada 10/11/29

Guy sent me this beautiful cover from Canada, thank you! It was posted in the mall Galeries de la Capitale (Quebec) on November 29, 2011.

The small left stamps are part of the series “Beneficial Insects”, which was issued on October 19, 2010. They depict the Dogbane Beetle (Chrysochus auratus) and the Margined Leatherwing (Chauliognathus marginatus).

The right mini sheet was issued on April 19, 2010. It is entitled “The Four Indian Kings” and depicts paintings of Jan Verelst showing the four Indian kings Tee Yee Neen Ho Ga Row, Sa Ga Yeath Qua Pieth Tow, Ho Nee Yeath Taw No Row, and Etow Oh Koam.

The top left stamp was issued on October 17, 2009. It commemorates the “100th Anniversary of Montreal Canadiens“. The top right stamp is part of the set “Roadside Attractions”, which was issued on July 6, 2009. It depicts the Sign Post Forest in Watson Lake, YT.

The bottom left stamp is part of the set “Beneficial Insects” (issued October 12, 2007). It depicts the Golden-eyed Lacewing (Chrysopa oculata). The bottom right stamp is part of the Christmas set, which was issued on November 2, 2009.

The cover was posted in February, unfortunately there has been no postmark applied. The souvenir sheet commemorates the Year of the Tiger and was issued on January 8, 2010.

Jeff sent me this beautiful cover from Canada, thank you! It was posted in Peggys Cove on April 24, 2009.

The top left stamps commemorate the International Year of Astronomy; they were issued on April 2, 2009. The lower stamp (issued on February 23, 2009) commemorates the centenary of the first flight in Canada, which took place at Bras d’Or Lake on February 23, 1909. The flight was performed with the AEA Silver Dart. Finally, the three definitives on the right were issued on October 12, 2007; they depict the convergent Lady Beetle (Hippodamia convergens).
